Ka'u is the most southern district of the Big Island of Hawaii (Moku), southeast of Kona. At the foot of the Mona Loa, (4170 m), at altitudes from 800 to 1,200 m, one of the world's finest coffees is cultivated for over 50 years now, on very nutrient-rich, young volcanic soil. In recent years, this coffee has done much better in numerous blind tastings than the top coffee from Kona, which has been marketed very successfully for some 150 years.
Vee's Ka'u Reserve "Paradise Mountain" is only fertilized organically. This gives the coffee the original fruity aromas with very little acidity. By blending the varieties "Arabica-Typica" and "Arabica-Bourbon-Caturra", the coffee develops a profound balanced complexity in the cup. The coffee has fruity aromas of apricots, plums and raspberries with hints of hazelnuts, cocoa and chocolate.
