Vee's JAMAIKA - Blue Mountain
"Wallenford Estate"
Real Jamaica "Blue Mountain" is one of the most expensive coffees in the world - a "Chateaux Petrus" or a "Le Pin" among the coffees, a coffee with cult status, around which the myths entwine. Everyone must decide on their own if the high price tag for this rare good is in proportion to the increased drinking pleasure. Apart from that, real "Blue Mountain" made of the best green coffee is a treat for every connoisseur.
The first coffee plants were brought to Jamaica by the French in 1728 from Martinique. Today, the Blue Mountain growing region of Jamaica consists of a mere 6,000 acres, so that all of the Blue Mountain tagged coffee can not possibly have grown there. True Jamaica Blue Mountain grows in ideal climatic conditions in the centre of the eastern part of the island on the volcanic south slopes of the 2300m tall "Blue Mountains", which traverse the island from west to east. The best Blue Mountain coffee comes almost exclusively from smaller plantations with coffee terraces in the higher mountain ranges, such as "Wallenford", "Silver Hill" or "Atlanta". We believe that coffee from the Wallenford coffee plantation is currently the best "Blue Mountain" coffee. For a long time, the government of Jamaica insisted that the entire Blue Mountain harvest be roasted in Jamaica. Today, Jamaica also exports green coffee. Most of the harvest is sold to Japan. In Tokyo's top-notch restaurants, a cup of real "Blue Mountain" coffee typically costs around 40 Euros.
Jamaica Blue Mountain is harmonious and balanced, has a soft, medium fullness with noble, sweetish acidity and aromas of nuts, pineapple and citrus fruits. This is 100% Premium Blue Mountain Arabica certified by the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica.
